Yum China Holdings, Inc. heeft aangekondigd dat het bedrijf begonnen is met de bouw van het Yum China Supply Chain Management Center in het Shanghai's Jiading district. De faciliteit van 61.000 vierkante meter is Yum China's grootste greenfield supply chain center project tot nu toe. De site moet in 2024 klaar zijn en zal dienen als hoofdkwartier van de bevoorradingsketenactiviteiten van het bedrijf. Naast de ondersteuning van Yum China's restaurants in Oost-China, zal de nieuwe faciliteit dienen als een belangrijk geïntegreerd doorvoercentrum voor de koudeketen voor de regio en de activiteiten van het bedrijf in het hele land ondersteunen. Het zal opslagruimte bij omgevingstemperatuur, koelketenopslag, kantoorruimte en ondersteunende faciliteiten omvatten. De onderneming zal moderne automatiseringsoplossingen en driedimensionale opslagtechnologie toepassen om het gebruik van de opslagruimte te optimaliseren, en gebruik maken van de nieuwste digitale technologieën om een slim platform voor het beheer van de toeleveringsketen op te zetten. Het bedrijf zal ook gebruik maken van zonnepanelen op daken en apparatuur voor het opwekken van windenergie om de koolstofuitstoot te verminderen. Sinds Yum China 35 jaar geleden zijn intrede deed in China, heeft het voortdurend geïnvesteerd in de opbouw van een toeleveringsketenbeheersysteem van wereldklasse, dat leveranciers- en toeleveringsbeheer, logistiek- en distributiebeheer, en restaurantbeheer omvat. Tegen het einde van maart 2022 had Yum China 32 logistieke centra die meer dan 12.000 restaurants bedienen in meer dan 1.700 steden in het hele land. Het bedrijf heeft tijdens zijn 2021 Investor Day ook aangekondigd dat het van plan is zijn logistieke netwerk uit te breiden tot 45 à 50 logistieke centra in de komende vijf jaar.
In de afgelopen jaren is Yum China begonnen aan een reis om een intelligente toeleveringsketen op te zetten die voedselveiligheid en kwaliteitsbeheer door de hele waardeketen heen helpt garanderen. Het bedrijf heeft ook een transport management systeem (TMS) ontwikkeld om de routeplanning en de beladingsgraad van de voertuigen te optimaliseren. Het warehouse management system (WMS) is ook in gebruik om e-tracking van producten mogelijk te maken van leveranciers naar logistieke centra en naar restaurants. Door gebruik te maken van IoT en AI zorgen de logistieke centra van Yum China voor realtime monitoring van producten en de omgevingstemperatuur in de voertuigen die door het hele land worden vervoerd. Yum China maakt ook gebruik van de extra capaciteit van zijn logistieke faciliteiten om one-stop op maat gemaakte oplossingen te bieden aan derden. Daartoe heeft de Onderneming in 2020 Chuan Sheng Supply Chain opgericht, een entiteit die zich toelegt op het verstrekken van professionele cold chain-logistiek van hoge kwaliteit, trunkvervoer, stadsdistributie en aanverwante diensten met toegevoegde waarde.
