Here’s today’s Final Jeopardy (in the category Classic Songs) for Tuesday, December 20, 2022 (Season 39, Game 72):
The shouts of excited children at a 1946 holiday parade are said to have inspired this perennial favorite
(correct response beneath the contestants)
Today’s Jeopardy! contestants:
Jason Radalin, a professor from Johnstown, New York |
Kim Aagaard, a project manager from Washington, D.C. |
Ray Lalonde, a scenic artist from Toronto, Ontario, Canada (3-day total: $84,800) |
Andy’s Pregame Thoughts:
Ray Lalonde put in a very strong performance on yesterday’s Jeopardy! with a score north of $30,000 going into Final Jeopardy! Will his strong performances continue? One thing to remember: Ray’s only non-runaway game, in his first win, did result in Ray not making the standard cover bet—the good news for Ray is that this week’s opponents may not know that!
PSA: The best way to keep COVID-19 at bay (and keep Jeopardy! producing new episodes) is for everybody to get their vaccinations as soon as they can, including any boosters as recommended. When wearing a mask, please ensure that your mask covers both your nose and your mouth.

One of Gene Autry’s many famed Christmas tunes, “Here Comes Santa Claus” was inspired by the 1946 Santa Claus Lane Parade (now known as the Hollywood Christmas Parade). Autry was riding his horse and heard the crowds chanting, “Here comes Santa Claus!”, inspiring the now-famous Christmas song that opens, “Here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus, right down Santa Claus Lane”.

Kim once was a bouncer for Madeleine Albright in Morocco.
Ray is currently working on “The Handmaid’s Tale”.
Andy’s Thoughts:
- Viewers are reminded that Ken did explicitly say “most recent city” in SPORTS FRANCHISES’ PREVIOUS HOMES; thus, the judges made the correct decision regarding Jason’s response to the $1,000 clue in that category.
- Today’s box score: December 20, 2022 Box Score.
Final Jeopardy! wagering suggestions:
(Scores: Ray $20,100 Kim $14,800 Jason $10,800)
Ray: Standard cover bet over Kim is $9,501. (Actual bet: $9,600)
Kim: You can’t both cover Jason and win a Double Stumper with Ray. If you really want to cover Jason, bet at least $6,801. Otherwise, bet less than $3,799 to defend against Jason’s low range—and anything between $4,202 and $6,799 gives you the lowest chance of winning. (Actual bet: $5,000)
Jason: If Ray bets to cover Kim, he falls to $10,599. Your best chance of winning is likely going to be on a Triple Stumper—limit your bet to $199. (Actual bet: $10,000)
