Welcome to UBalt! We've put this guide together to help you get the most out of your experiences as you settle into being a student at the University.

Accessing Your UBalt

While you're a student at UBalt, there are some technology services that you'll want to know well and use often. They are:

• Your NetID

  Your NetID and password gives you access to many UBalt services, including e-mail, the MyUB Portal, computer labs, online classes, and the wireless network.

• MyUB Portal

  My Student Center on the MyUB Portal is where you take care of many of the important tasks that go with being a UBalt student, such as:

  • searching and registering for classes
  • checking grades
  • accepting financial aid
  • viewing your unofficial transcript
  • updating personal information
  • and more.

  Forgot Your Password or netID

  Your UBalt Email

  Your UBalt e-mail (your.name@ubalt.edu) will be your official medium of communication with the University. Remember to check it often; you can access it through the Tools section of the Portal or via Outlook when logged in to a campus computer.

• Tools on Portal

  The Portal also contains a Tools section where you can check your UBalt e-mail, access files saved on your M: drive, and search for a roommate through Roommate Connector. You can also use CSI Link to find out about student organizations, and UBalt Works to search and apply for job positions (assistantships and work-study) on campus.

• Online Classes/Canvas

  Both online and face-to-face classes will likely involve the use of Canvas, UBalt's collaborative online learning system. You'll receive an email before class starts if your professor plans to integrate Sakai into his or her curriculum.

Internet, Wireless, and Remote Access

WiFi Services
You can use your own computer to access campus technology, using the wireless network (WiFi).

Security
Protecting your online privacy (including personal information such as passwords and account numbers) continues to be important for your safety and security. For more about Internet safety, visit the Online Security page.

Mobile Services
Want to use UBalt's wireless through your iPhone while on campus? You can take advantage of these and other mobile services provided by UBalt.

You can alsoconnect to a campus computerfrom homewith a Remote Access option.

Online Storage
As a student, you'll have personal storage space on an M: Drive. This is accessible on or off campus via Portal by clicking on the "MyWork Drive" icon under Tools. When logged on to an OTS lab or campus computer, you can also get to your files through the"My Documents" folder. Additionally, web page spacefor a personal web page is available on the ubalt.edu site.

Hardware and Software Discounts
You alsohave access to discounts on Dell and Apple products, as well as software from Microsoft, Adobe, and more. Visit the OTS "Get Software" page for more information.
